The newest developments in 2026 and our plans for the coming period.

maandag 2 maart 2026

The past few months have been focused on the further professionalization of the DDigit platform. Important steps have been taken both technically and organizationally. Below is an overview of the key developments.

Collection Manager

Collection Manager continues to steadily evolve as a professional collection management system for museums and heritage institutions.

Recent enhancements:

  • Further expansion of IIIF functionality
  • Advanced search and replace
  • Support for external thesauri
  • Redesigned sharing panel

The functionality is now widely deployable within existing heritage infrastructures, while maintaining compatibility with common data models.

UMU and Korpora fully migrated

University Museum Utrecht (UMU) and Korpora have fully transitioned to Double Dig IT Collection Manager.

The transition was completed without traditional data migration: existing data models remained intact. This underlines the technical maturity and stability of the platform.

Collection Mobile – live in the app stores

Collection Mobile is now officially available in the App Store (Apple) and Google Play.

The app supports, among other things:

  • Object relocations
  • Registration of new objects and packaging
  • Generation and scanning of barcodes and QR codes
  • Photography and condition reporting
  • Support for Linea Pro barcode scanners

Collection Mobile is used by University Museum Utrecht (UMU), Korpora, The National Maritime Museum (Amsterdam) and Helicon Collection Care.

NDE compatibility

Our software is compatible with the infrastructure of the Dutch Digital Heritage Network (NDE).

For the next round of ‘Accelerating’ projects, subsidy applications are to be accepted until the 31st of May through the website of the NDE.

Maritiem Digitaal 2.0 expanded

Maritiem Digitaal 2.0 has been further expanded. In addition to the existing collections, images are now also available from the Maritime Museum Rotterdam and the maritime collection of the Rijksmuseum.

The images are made available live via API integrations with the systems of both museums. Data remains at the source; Maritiem Digitaal functions as a federated infrastructure.

Double Dig IT Application Designer

The web-based Double Dig IT Application Designer is currently in development. The first version will be released this spring.

This will make it possible to fully configure applications in a browser-based environment.

Strengthened collaboration with Data Machine

Collaboration with Data Machine has intensified over the past six months.

  • In addition to visual search, a proof of concept has been developed for automatically generating photo descriptions using AI, applied to the Scottish Yacht Archive .
  • The pilot was successful; the generated descriptions proved to be substantively usable and consistent.

The results of this pilot will be presented during our event on 19 May 2026.

.NET 10 – performance improvement

All applications now run on .NET 10, under Linux, macOS, and Windows.

This results in approximately 30% performance improvement and increased future-proofing.

Maintenance Agreements

Since January 1 of this year, we have been offering maintenance agreements to users of Double Dig IT products. This ensures that customers receive support and updates. So far, 6 customers have entered into these agreements.
